Harry Katz, director of the Scheinman Institute on Conflict Resolution and
the Jack Sheinkman Professor of Collective Bargaining at the School of Industrial and Labor Relations, provides his director's update for March 2026.
In this director update, Katz discusses the role that extension faculty from Cornell University ILR School’s National Conflict Resolution Service (NCRS) played in mediation that helped settle several strikes at a number of hospitals in the New York City region.
NCRS is a nonprofit collaboration between Cornell ILR's Scheinman Institute and the American Arbitration Association (AAA). Its mission is to establish a trusted, national hub for high-quality labor dispute resolution, training, facilitation and conflict management and prevention services—built on a foundation of neutrality, excellence, and public service values.
