Techniques developed by a team led by Paul Steen, the Maxwell M. Upson Professor in Engineering, have helped the researchers create a periodic table to group droplets based on their motions. The ability to classify these droplets could have applications for everything from creating semiconductor chips to improving blood-splatter forensics.
